Gator support turned away
PHILADELPHIA -- A Phillies fan and his emotional support alligator were denied entrance to watch Philadelphia host Pittsburgh.
Social media posts showed the alligator named WallyGator on a leash outside Citizens Bank Park on Wednesday. He was on a leash with a harness with his name on it. WallyGator is a working emotional support alligator.
The reptile has a big presence on Instagram and TikTok. The stadium's policy allows guide dogs, service animals or those in training. All other animals are banned.
The animal's owner told The Philadelphia Inquirer last year that WallyGator helps him battle depression and that "he likes to give hugs."
XFL, USFL set to merge
NEW YORK -- The XFL and USFL plan to join forces.
The spring pro football leagues announced in a statement Thursday they would merge going forward. The statement said details of the new league would come out at a later date.
The XFL has eight teams from Seattle, Washington, to Washington, D.C. The USFL also has eight teams that stretch from New Jersey to Memphis.
The XFL, first founded in 2001, returned to action in 2020 but had to shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The league eventually filed for bankruptcy. It was reborn in February.
