Central Cambria gets historic playoff victory

EBENSBURG — Much of the Central Cambria baseball team wasn’t even in elementary school yet the last time the Red Devils won a playoff game. Fast forward to Friday night when they scored eight runs in the third inning and never looked back as the No. 4 seed Central Cambria blanked No. 5 River Valley, 10-0, in six innings at the Red Devilplex. Altoona eliminated by Lions

After two extra-inning wins over State College in the regular season, Altoona looked to go 3-0 against the Little Lions in the District 6 Class 6A semifinals Thursday at Mansion Park. It was not to be for the Mountain Lions, however. State College plated four runs in the first two innings and held Altoona off the rest of the way for a 7-3 win.
