C-K baseball falls just short vs. So. Fulton

WARFORDSBURG — Claysburg-Kimmel nearly knocked off defending PIAA Class 1A champion Southern Fulton, but the Indians scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh to walk-off 3-2 winners in high school softball.

Mason Campagna and Brayden Haney homered in the first inning to give the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead, and no one scored again until the seventh inning.

Haney threw six scoreless innings before running into trouble in the seventh, where he got just one out before a relief pitcher came in and allowed two hits that brought in the winning runs.

C-K fell to 11-6 while Southern Fulton improved to 12-1.

Connor Waite pitched a complete game in leading Altoona past Cumberland Valley, 3-1, at Mansion Park.

Carter McConnell’s two-run single in the bottom of the fourth inning gave Altoona a 2-1 lead.

Nick Kraft added an RBI single in the bottom of the fifth for Altoona.
