Mountain Lion frosh has strong showing

PITTSBURGH — Altoona freshman Ashlyn Noce earned a medal as a top-20 finisher at the Tri-State Coaches Association Cross Country Championships at Oak Park on Thursday. Noce finished 17th in 19:23.82 to lead all Lady Lions in the 264-runner field. As a team, the Altoona girls finished 11th out of 24 teams, and Mount Lebanon senior Logan St. John Kletter won in 17:39.31. The winning team was North Allegheny. Central’s Snowberger in tie for 30th after first day

From Mirror reports STATE COLLEGE — Central’s Griffin Snowberger, who just missed a medal by tying for 11th at the PIAA Class 2A boys golf championships last year, shot a 5-over par 77 on Monday at the Penn State White Course and is tied for 30th after the first round.
