TYRONE — Clearfield won all but one event in sweeping Tyrone in high school swimming action on Friday. Nicholas Vaow won the 200-yard freestyle and 50 free, and Zane Day won the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke to help the Clearfield boys win, 124-44. STATE COLLEGE — The Hollidaysburg Area High School ice hockey team improved to 9-0 Thursday night, thanks to a 6-1 victory over State College at the Pegula Ice Rink on the Penn State University campus. The Golden Tigers, who out-shot the Little Lions 45-19, got two goals in the second period, courtesy of Ty Burket and Ben Pfeilstucker, for a 2-0 lead. Aunye Counsman, a member of the Altoona Area High School girls volleyball team, was recently named to the 2023 4A All-State volleyball team. Counsman, a senior, was nominated by the Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association. A first-team Mid-Penn Conference first-team all-star, Counsman was the team leader in digs with 611 and she reached the 1,000 digs mark this past season. A team captain in her junior and senior seasons, she finished her career with 145 service points, 35 aces,44 assists and a 2.14 serve receive passer rating on 729 attempts.
