Cresson woman wins 100-miler

BEAVER FALLS — Stephanie Kos of Gallitzin was the female winner of the fifth annual Rabid Raccoon 100-mile race on Saturday and Sunday.

Kos finished the race in 22 hours, 4 minutes, 33.18 seconds to beat Erica Reinsel of Jacksonville, Fla., by more than 43 minutes.

Kos, 33, was the third overall finisher behind males Alex Minor of Morgantown, W.Va. (15:42:56.66) and Clinton Hepler of Cranberry (21:19:22.85). There were 221 people registered to race.

Isaac Sclesky, 30, of Carrolltown was 25th among males and 31st overall with a time of 28:27:33.91. Josh Stoehr, 36, of Cresson was 30th among males and 36th overall in 29:22:16.98.

Last year, Kos was second among females in the 100K race, finishing in 13:17:13.

Sylvan Hills golf

HOLLIDAYSBURG — Nick and Tim Matteson shot a gross score of 35 in Sylvan Hills’ Thursday evening two-man scramble league.

The net-score winning teams of Michael Clowson and Ken Stockley and Dallas Huff and Cameron Wood carded a 31.

Donnie Fisher and Pat Croft won closest-to-the-pin honors. Croft and Drew Nixon are currently the league leaders.

Summit golf

CRESSON — Keith Frank, Rob Capelli, Tanner Fogel and Kurt Maurer shot a 54 to win the 13th annual Bob Biter Electric scramble to benefit St. Aloysius Church at the Summit Country Club.

Rod Wolfe, Mark Rosko, Adam Patula and Dillon Boyer finished one stroke back in second, and the team of Jesse Bianconi, Emil Debright, Ernie Debright and Vin Spadling finished third.

Paul Pentz, Donald Lloyd, Rosko, Sam Quinn, Jay Roberts, Patula and Tyler Thomas won skill prizes.

Hole-in-one

ORE HILL — Anita Jo Petrusky made a hole-in-one at Iron Masters Country Club on the 143-yard third hole using a 5-wood.

Her third career hole-in-one was witnessed by Kate Conway.

MVL stars named

FLINTON — West Branch and Moshannon Valley dominated the baseball list for the Moshannon Valley League spring all-stars.

Making the team for the Black Knights were Mason Abernathy, Collin Dunlap and Brady Kephart, while Nick Parks, Coby Kephart and Caleb Hudson made it for the Warriors.

Glendale was represented by Levi Hamilton. Curwensville’s Cael Butler and Lawson Neiswender also made the team.

In softball, making it for West Branch were Lindsey Bainey, Shasta Manahan and Isabella Nelson. On the team for Curwensville were Eliza Aughenbaugh, Addison Neiswender and Addison Siple.

Glendale’s Jayden Fry and Elizabeth Kaufman made the softball team as did Mo Valley’s Annabeth Anderson.
