Chase Dietz places first in Keith Kauffman Classic at Port Royal

PORT ROYAL — Saturday night at Port Royal Speedway was a night to honor Keith Kauffman, the track’s all-time winningest 410 sprint car driver.

Chase Dietz led all 30 laps around The Speed Palace for the $16,000 pay day in the Keith Kauffman Classic.

It was Dietz’s third career triumph in 410 competition at the Juniata County half mile. Aaron Reutzel was second, and Troy Wagaman was third. Ryan Smith earned the Ramsey’s Car Wash Hard Charger award worth $500, and Freddie Rahmer had the 17 pill drawn in victory lane earning him the J&S Classics Warrior Award worth $1,000.

The Weikert’s Livestock 410 sprint cars will be back in competition this Friday through Sunday with Interstate Batteries High Limit Racing for the Bob Weikert Memorial.

In the Empire Super Sprint competition, Alex Therrien won from his fourth-place starting spot.

Clinton County

MILL HALL — Zach Rhodes of McVeytown became the third different winner in the River Valley Builders RaceSaver sprint cars on Friday night at the Clinton County Speedway.

It was the third of his career at the oval. AY Schilling of Linden won the Pro Stocks, Mason McAndrew of Apollo won the 270 Micros, AJ Hoffner of East Berlin won the Four-Cylinders, and Adilyn Bathurts of Aaronsburg won the Junior Sprints.

The Clinton County Speedway returns this Friday night with a four-division show.

Hidden Valley

CLEARFIELD — Colton Friese of Spring Run picked up his first ever win at the Ultimate Bull Ring in the Legends Special at Hidden Valley Speedway on Armed Forces night.

Other winners as the first points race made it into the books included: Craig Bainey of Osceola Mills in the Semi-Lates, Fuzzy Fields of Brockway in the Penn Ohio Pro Stocks, Jimmy Holden of Tiona in the Small Block Modifieds, George Bailey in the Pure Stocks and Brett Hanley of Morrisdale in the Four-Cylinder main.

This Friday night is the annual Shawn “Sheetz” McGarvey Memorial race for the Super Late Models. McGarvey was a top late model driver who lost his life in a work-related accident in 2009. There will also be a Late Model King of the Hill and a full program for the regular divisions.
