TYRONE — The Tyrone boys and girls teams swept their way by Bishop Guilfoyle and Penns Valley on Tuesday in high school action.

The boys captured wins over BG (135-6) and PV (104-37), while the girls defeated the Lady Rams (100-41) and Lady Marauders (101-27).

Penns Valley beat the BG boys by a 100-26 score, and the PV girls handled BG, 97-40.

Drew Irons (200 and 400 dashes) and Cian Hockenberry (shot put and discus) were double winners for the Golden Eagles.

Sarah Chichester (100 and 200 dashes) and Josie Dicken (shot put and discus) captured two events for the Lady Eagles.

Mary Haigh led the Lady Marauders with wins in the long and triple jumps.

Hornets get the sweep

ALEXANDRIA — The Juniata Valley teams swept their way past Mount Union, West Branch and Williamsburg to finish 3-0 on the day.

The Green Hornets beat Williamsburg 82-35, Mount Union 58-55, and West Branch 80-22.

The Lady Hornets came out in front of Williamsburg (81-16), Mount Union (72-34) and West Branch (81-54).

Hoffmaster captured the long and triple jumps for the JV boys, while the 400 and 1600 relays teams were victorious.

Ella McCrum was a triple winner for the JV girls by placing first in the 800, 1600 and 3200 runs.

Both the javelin and pole vault events were cancelled due to weather.
