The Pittsburgh Pirates on Thursday announced that Saturday, Sept. 3 will be the date of the team’s inaugural Hall of Fame induction ceremony. The Pirates will hold a special induction ceremony early that afternoon on PNC Park’s Riverwalk and honor the first-ever Pirates Hall of Fame class on the field prior to their 6:35 p.m. game against the Toronto Blue Jays. AKRON, Ohio — The Curve continued their hot start to the second half with a victory Wednesday night, although there was some disappointing news earlier in the day. Altoona beat Akron, 6-3, at Canal Park to improve to 5-2 in the second half. AKRON, Ohio — Due to Akron’s city-wide curfew, the Akron RubberDucks postponed the game against the Altoona Curve scheduled for Monday. The curfew is in place due to protests that escalated after nightfall on Sunday. “Early yesterday, we had several peaceful protests in the downtown footprint related to the officer-involved shooting of Jayland Walker,’’ Akron Mayor Dan Horrigan said in a statement released to the media. “These protests did not escalate to violence and destruction. ...
