Dayne Summerville: W&J football
Name: Dayne Summerville
High school: Penn Cambria
Hometown: Cresson
Sport: Football
Position: Offensive lineman
College choice: Washington and Jefferson
Other colleges considered: Saint Vincent, Clarion, Lycoming, Saint Francis
Why I picked Washington and Jefferson: “I committed to Washington and Jefferson College because I feel as if this is a place where I can get better as a person, student, and athlete. Coach Sirianni has built and maintained a reputable program in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference. Coach Sirianni’s commitment to the players and the team is what I really like about the football program, particularly the history of Washington and Jefferson football. I also have the opportunity to play the offensive line for one last time with my brother, Eli.”
Greatest high school achievement: Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference honors in 2024 and 2025. All-state honors in 2025. Four-year letterman. Two-time District 6 3A champions. Two-time state semifinalists. First-team Tribune Democrat all-star. Second-team Altoona Mirror all-star.
Coach Jason Grassi’s quote: “Dayne has been a guy that has put the work on and off the field for the last four years. He was a team’s first player that never missed a lift or practice and was always trying to get the best out of his teammates. He excelled on both sides of the ball but will be a great player on the offensive line in college. W&J is a great fit for him, and he will have the benefit of his brother there to guide him until he gets his feet wet. He will be missed but we can’t wait to see who he becomes there!”
How I got my start in football: “My football career began in pre-K when I played for the Lilly Raiders.”
Favorite college growing up: Penn State
Other interests: “I wrestled and competed in track and field. Outside of school, I enjoy hanging out with my friends and family, going golfing, and going to the beach with my beach family.”
What getting to play in college means to me: “Playing at the next level means giving me an opportunity to push my limits and get to play the sport that I love for another four years with my brother by my side.”
Probable college major: Undecided
Parents: Dawn and Michael Summerville
