In response to a recent letter of Sept. 29. The writer is correct that there is deep frustration with certain press coverage which is biased and disconnected from normal American life. I must remind him that during the Biden Administration they not only limited Biden talking to the press. The term “Affordability Crisis” often appears in the news, but I have seen little to define and measure it, before assigning blame. This is my effort to do so. Let’s define Affordability as: your cost to maintain your current standard of living. A decline in your ability to maintain this standard of living defines an “Affordability Crisis”. Changes in Affordability can be measured by your increase in wages relative to the cost-of-living increase. Income taxes paid affect Affordability, too. People work hard, pay their bills, raise their families — and still can’t afford a home, groceries, healthcare, repairs, or gas. They aren’t asking for luxury. Garrity deposited $1,000 bonuses into PA 529 college funds, benefiting over 107,000 Pennsylvania families.
