In response to a recent letter of Sept. 29. The writer is correct that there is deep frustration with certain press coverage which is biased and disconnected from normal American life.
I must remind him that during the Biden Administration they not only limited Biden talking to the press. Even Biden admitted at times when he would take an extra question or two that he would be in trouble for taking those questions. Also the administration gave Biden a list of who to call when taking questions.
I also want to point out that the Biden administration gave a Philadelphia radio reporter that was going to interview VP Harris questions to ask. The reporter added her own question and got blasted by the administration and she was then forced out of her job. Sadly there was no outrage for that.
My point is we have already seen the past administration pick and choose what journalists to call on.
Yes, the press is essential for accountability. It should also be noted that the press has had more access to the current President and other staff members than any other previous administration. When this president does take questions from the media it could last sometimes up to an hour, sometimes several times a week.
We don't need a media that tells its viewers they tell us what to think. We just want the facts and make our own decisions.
