Tired of political games, division

What if we had no political parties? What if we had to form our own opinions? I guess we would not know who to hate. Now, if you pick one team, you kind of automatically hate the other team. I’m not really sure how you pick your team. With this much hatred in the world, it should be easy? If you’re pro-choice, you’re on this team. If you’re against guns, you’re on this team, etc. It’s confusing to me because there are folks on both teams who like some of these things, but not all. I’m not really into politics. I vote for who I like. It’s obvious many people ...

Old Crow wetlands being degraded

I am writing to express my deep concern over the degradation of the Old Crow wetland in Huntingdon, a place once teeming with salamanders, turtles, frogs, insects and native plants. Recent sediment pollution from the Rutter’s construction has already begun to choke this fragile ecosystem — an outcome many of us predicted when the truck stop project adjacent to the wetland was first proposed. Despite the clear risks, permits were hastily approved and planning corners cut, leaving this invaluable natural area vulnerable. Wetlands are not wastelands; they are living systems that ...

Election a chance to support Trump

This November’s election is not just another date on the calendar — it is a defining moment for America’s future. In recent years, Washington’s “whole‑of‑government” approach has fueled massive bureaucracy, advancing progressive priorities that undermine liberty, limit opportunity, and erode personal responsibility. President Trump’s agenda offers a clear course correction: dismantling unelected regulatory power, restoring authority to the people, and proving that economic growth and environmental care can thrive together. Republicans champion practical conservation, ...

Vote for Battista as Superior Court judge

As a volunteer for the Blair County Republican Committee, I experienced first hand the dedication and expertise that Maria Battista exhibits. She campaigns tenaciously, with passion and dedication for the people of Pennsylvania. More importantly, she shows reverence for the law that she will uphold and interpret without legislating from the bench. Her over 15 years of legal experience are vast. They cover work in the Clarion District Attorney’s Office, different departments for the state, and multiple years in the private sector for LexisNexis. One of her crowning points of ...

Stoltz will serve with integrity as MDJ

As a regional vice chair for the Blair County GOP, I support Kevin Stoltz for MDJ. Kevin, the Republican nominee, will serve with honor, integrity, and precision. Just like when he served in the U.S. Army, Kevin will view the facts and look at the reality of the cases presented to him without derision. His court will prove efficient and effective in handling cases. Kevin’s professional experience will also set him on a solid path. Like many MDJs before him, his private sector experience will suit him well for the job. I look forward to voting for Kevin Stoltz for MDJ this Nov. 4 ...

National Guard more than stopped crime

Mission accomplished: After Congress refused to release $1.1 billion in funding to the District of Columbia for education, public safety, and infrastructure, 6,000 armed, camo-wearing National Guard troops mulching greenery around the Washington Monument eliminated any mention of Jeffrey Whatshisname from the front pages of every newspaper in the country. Well done. Jack Troy Huntingdon
