A. Eugene “Gene” Haupt, 90, of Tyrone, passed away Monday. He was born in Tyrone, son of the late Leroy and Marie (Moffa) Haupt Sr. He is survived by a brother, James M. Haupt of Tyrone. He was preceded in death by siblings: Leroy Haupt Jr., Mary Bywater and Rosalind Snyder. Gene was a 1954 graduate of Tyrone Area High School. After high school, Gene joined the United States Air Force, where he served honorably in the Strategic Air Command as an Airman 2nd class during the Korean war.
