Mark M. Poirrier, 63, of Altoona, passed away Friday. He was born in St. Louis, Mo., son of the late James E. Poirrier and Cheryl (Myres) Smith. He was preceded in death by his niece, Michelle Crooks. Surviving are siblings: James “Jimmy” Poirrier (Lisa), Margot “Maggie” Poirrier, Patrick Stark, Nicki Schwager (Kurt), Vicki Ziegler (Scot), Crystal Struthers (Bob) and Brittany Poirrier; a niece, Megan Carter (Camden); and nephew, Ryan Poirrier (Stephanie); along with many other family and friends. George R. Socash, 59, of Altoona, passed away Saturday. He was born in Phillipsburg, son of the late Fredrick Sr. and Mary (Myers) Socash. Surviving are his wife, Connie (Marlett); a daughter, Lisa Watkins; a granddaughter, Dezi; four sisters: Kimberly Hudak, Tracy Mulhall, Dawn Marie and Tammy Jo; three brothers: Fredick Jr., Glenn and Shawn; and three dogs: Shebba, Casper and Patches. He was preceded in death by a sister, Wanda Sewell. George enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Clarence M. Deremer Jr., 88, of Breezewood, died Saturday. Born in Everett, son of the late Clarence Sr. and Mable Deremer, he is survived by his wife, Sara; children: Michael, Denver and Clarence III; his grandchildren; and siblings: Olive Calhoun, Thomas Deremer and Linda Ennis. He was predeceased by siblings: Carl, John, James, Andrew and Mary. Carl V. Moyer, 70, of Duncansville, passed away Friday at UPMC Altoona. He was born in Altoona, son of the late David Sr. and Velma (Leighty) Moyer. Surviving are a daughter, Michelle Moyer; siblings: William, James, Rita, Mark, Joan, George, Martha Reese, Barbara, Kenneth, Virginia Clapper, and Daniel; and numerous nieces and nephews. Judith E. Rains, 78, of Altoona, passed away Friday morning. She was born in Birmingham, Ala. She is survived by her two sons, Eric Rains and Christopher Rains (Tracy); her daughter, Marcy Rains; daughter-in-law, Sherri Rains; two grandchildren, Jacob and Chelsea Mathieu; a sister, Royce Kennedy; and Bart Rains. Judy was preceded in death by her son, Barry Rains. She retired from Goodwill and previously was the manager of Walden Books. Judy enjoyed reading.
