John Arthur ‘Jack’ Shaner

John Arthur “Jack” Shaner, 92, of Altoona, passed away Tuesday at Van Zandt VA Medical Center. He was born in Altoona, son of the late John S. Shaner and Mary Ila (Barnett) Shaner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Paul S. Shaner; sons, James C. Shaner and Ronald M. “Ronnie” Shaner and his wife, Elsa M. Reep Shaner, who passed away on Dec. 31, 2006. Jack was first united in marriage to Catherine L. Yonkosky in July 1953. He later married Elsa M. Reep. Rudy J. Yerty, 81, Altoona, passed away Wednesday at his home. He was born in Baltimore, Md., a son of the late Joseph C. and Julia F. (Teeters) Yerty. He was preceded in death by 11 brothers and three sisters. At the request of the deceased, no public services will be held. Interment will take place at Carson Valley Cemetery.
