Dwight Earl Close, 81, of Smithmill, and a guest of Heritage Ridge Senior Living at Windy Hill Village, Philipsburg, died Wednesday after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born in Philipsburg, son of the late John and Roberta R. (Robeson) Close. He was also preceded in death by an infant sibling. Dwight is survived by numerous cousins. He served his country from 1966-71 in the U.S. Air Force. Dwight was a high school teacher for 10 years. There will be no viewing. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
