She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Michael and Giustina (Bonerigo) Mangia. She married Joseph R. Wales on Dec. 28, 1946, in Altoona. He preceded her in death on Nov. 23, 1999.

Surviving are three children: Sandra Zlupko (George), Joseph and Albert (Marcie), all of Altoona; six grandchildren: George, Ryan, Brandon and Michael Zlupko, and Miranda and William Wales; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Michael Mangia of Tipton; a sister, Julia Figart of Altoona; and a daughter-in-law, Pamela Wales.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Theresa Barcaro; and a brother, Albert Mangia.

Paula was 1945 graduate of Altoona Area High School. She retired long ago as a beautician and was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church.

She loved spending time with her family, shopping, bingo, cooking, bowling and taking bus trips to gamble.

Friends will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013, at The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013, at Stevens Memorial Chapel by Deacon James Woomer. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery.
