Blair County to get natural gas impact fees
Municipalities to split $184,000
More than $184,000 collected in natural gas impact fees in 2025 will be distributed among Blair County and its municipalities.
Blair County government will receive $144,491.03 and 25 municipalities will collectively receive more than $39,500.
Fees are collected from drilling companies with 60% returned to counties and municipalities affected by drilling. The other 40% goes into the Marcellus Shale Legacy Fund, which supports statewide environmental initiatives, greenways and infrastructure projects.
Payments are expected to be distributed in early July.
According to the breakdown at the state Public Utility Commission website, Allegheny Township will receive $3,327.04; the City of Altoona, $2,545.71; Antis Township, 494.86; Bellwood Borough, $110.27; Blair Township, $2,082.41; Catharine Township, $85.41; Duncansville Borough, $80.05; Frankstown Township, $600.35; Freedom Township, $1,725.65; Greenfield Township, $1,859.66; Hollidaysburg Borough, $322.29; Huston Township, $142.45; Juniata Township, $23,585.93; Logan Township, $872.50; Martinsburg Borough, $107.58; Newry Borough, $14.36; North Woodbury Township, $202.52; Roaring Spring Borough, $134.86; Snyder Township, $278; Taylor Township, $202.05; Tunnelhill Borough, $5.92; Tyrone Borough, $298.02; Tyrone Township, $171.89; Williamsburg Borough, $68.44; and Woodbury Township, $229.42.
