Biddle’s Brewing to open firm’s third coffee shop in Bellwood
BELLWOOD — Biddle’s Brewing, which has locations in Williamsburg and Loretto, plans to open a third location at 500 Main St., Bellwood.
The business owned, by Mike and Britt Biddle, is expected to open mid-summer.
The Biddle’s roaster, Scott Miller of Appalachian Coffee Roasters, will be operating out of this building.
“Bellwood felt like the perfect fit for him to increase his ever-growing business and we are excited to get into this venture together,” Mike Biddle said.
Biddle said the couple wants to “reinvest” in rural Pennsylvania and Bellwood is currently without a local coffee shop.
“We want to be able to come into the community and fill that need and while we are there we want to be able to boost the community any way we can,” Mike Biddle said. “We love our small towns. We have found that these are the places that have watched businesses come and go with the seasons.”
He said many rural communities in the region have been overlooked as bases for businesses, but those communities are in need of stable economic entities that can earn their trust and prove they aren’t taking advantage of residents.
“Once trust is earned, the community becomes your strongest advocate,” Biddle said.
The Biddles are thankful and humbled by their business’ success.
“We had some hesitation before starting due to the almost overwhelming negativity or stigma associated with putting a business in a small town like Williamsburg or Loretto,” he said. “That original doubt has subsided and we no longer look at the negatives. We try to keep our eyes on the positive, on the opportunity, on the chance to make a real difference in these communities. We don’t know if we would say we are surprised or not surprised but we will say we are thankful.”
The Bellwood location will have about 10 employees.
Business hours will be 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday and Wednesday; 6 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday; and 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
