Winner advances, takes first place in regional competition

The Morrisons Cove Rotary Club has announced the winners of its 2025 Four-Way Test Speech Contest held on Wednesday, March 5, at Northern Bedford County High School.

Nine contestants representing Northern Bedford High School participated.

The purpose of the annual Four-Way Test Speech Contest is to foster the principles of ethics in everyday life, as well as in business, and introduces high school students to Rotary.

Each student is asked to write and present a speech of no less than five minutes and no more than seven minutes.

They select the topic of their speech, but should incorporate Rotary’s Four-Way Test “Of the things we think, say or do: Is it the truth? Is it fair to all concerned? Will it build goodwill and better friendships? Will it be beneficial to all concerned?”

Jaylyn Resh was awarded first place and a check in the amount of $500. Savanna Hershberger was awarded second place and a check in the amount of $300. Myah Douglas was awarded third place and a check in the amount of $100.

Also, competing this year were Elisa Camenga, Kylie Stevenson, Katelyn Snyder, Maximus Gochonuor, Aleah Loose and Brandon Reynolds.

Jaylyn Resh went on to compete and take first place in the Rotary Four-Way Speech Contest District 7360 Regional Competition during the Rotary District 7360 Conference held at Omni Bedford Springs Resort.

Rusty Hoover, Steve Metzger, Chuck Gojmerac and Shana Stern, all members of the Morrisons Cove Rotary Club, helped with judging the contest and congratulated all the contestants for their excellent presentations.
