PBR School of Dance to ‘Dance the Night Away’

Pauline Baker Rodgers School of Dance presents “Dance the Night Away” at the Jaffa Shrine at 6 p.m. Saturday, May 17.

Doors will open at 5 p.m. Tickets are $15 and may be purchased at the main entrance of the Jaffa.

Collection for local veterans set for Friday

Laurel Highlands Historical Village will be collecting items on behalf of area veterans and elderly people in need from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, May 16, at the Ebensburg Walmart, 300 Walmart Drive.

Donations can be dropped off to the front of the store.

The group is collecting gift cards, food items, paper goods, hygiene products, blankets, ceramic heaters, kitchen items and towels for those in need.

Supplies are very low at this time and any donations to help local veterans would be greatly appreciated as the group has multiple requests weekly for support.

Donations can also be taken to the Galleria Mall in Johnstown, lower-level center, Hoss’s in Ebensburg or Johnstown, Kimmies restaurant in Mundys Corner, Stagers in Portage, and Randy’s Bi Lo in Windber.

Discovery Garden hosts plant sale fundraiser

The Discovery Garden, located at Legion Memorial Park, 1501 N. Juniata St., will hold a fundraising event from 9 a.m. until noon Saturday, May 17.

The annual Spring Plant Sale will offer plants, vegetables, flowers and herbs to the public at very reasonable prices.

There will also be a selection of native plants along with homegrown items.

Proceeds from the sale benefit the Discovery Garden and Skills of Central Pa.’s horticultural therapy programs.

Among the raffle prizes are a complete Aqua Garden Mini Pond Kit, gift cards, prize baskets, event tickets and more. A 50/50 drawing will be held.

Blair Garden Club to hold annual plant sale

Blair Garden Club will hold their yearly plant sale from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, May 16, and from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday, May 17.

The sale will be held at Jaggard United Methodist Church, 1801 Pleasant Valley Blvd. Church members will hold a bake sale on Friday.

There will be a selection of annuals and perennials sourced from members’ gardens.

Blair Garden Club will hold their monthly meeting at 6 p.m. Monday, May 19, at the American Legion Post 516 Social Hall, 1501 N. Juniata St., Hollidaysburg.

Blair Democratic Women to meet Tuesday

The Blair County Federation of Democratic Women will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, at Perkins Restaurant, 3300 Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona.

All women who are registered Democrats are welcome to attend. There will be a presentation regarding Fair Districts PA and a future protest rally discussion.
