Blair Garden Club to celebrate 75 years

The Blair Garden Club will meet Monday, March 24, in the Soho Room at The Casino at Lakemont Park, 300 Lakemont Blvd., Altoona. Appetizers will be from 5:30 to 6 p.m. It is by reservation only.

Members will celebrate the club’s 75th anniversary.

The club will also continue to collect dues at this time.

In lieu of a regular program, a slide show featuring members’ gardens will take place.

Clean-up day planned at Rose Hill

Volunteers and Friends of Rose Hill Cemetery will hold a clean-up day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 5, at the cemetery, 501 E. Pleasant Valley Blvd, Altoona.

This is a rain or shine event.

Pianos to duel at Royal Ballroom

A Dueling Pianos Show will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 5, at the Royal Ballroom, Main Street, Portage.

The doors will open at 5:30 p.m.

The event will benefit the Portage Public Library.

Cost is $35 per person.

SAMA to host 5K fundraiser

The Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art in Altoona has announce its Art for Your Heart 5K Run & Walk fundraiser, taking place at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 24. The event will be held rain or shine.

This heart-healthy event welcomes participants of all ages and fitness levels to run, walk and celebrate wellness while supporting the arts in the community.

Every step you take helps sustain SAMA’s exhibitions, educational programs and outreach initiatives that enrich lives throughout the region.

Registration is $25 before race day and $35 on the day f the race. Those who register by April 30 will receive an official Art for Your Heart 5K T-shirt. Registrations after May 3 and on race day will receive T-shirts while supplies last.

The scenic race route begins and ends at SAMA Altoona, offering a unique way to connect with the community while enjoying the outdoors.

Participants can compete in various age groups, ranging from 14 and under to 60 and above. Medals will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers in each age group, as well as the top three overall male and female runners.

Sponsorship packages are available for businesses and individuals. The sponsorship deadline is April 30.

‘Look Good, Feel Better’ set for April 7

UPMC Altoona will hold the “Look Good Feel Better” program to support women with cancer.

It will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Monday, April 7, at UPMC Altoona, sixth floor, rotunda.

During cancer treatment, “Look Good, Feel Better” volunteer beauty professionals will help with:

n Skin care and makeup application.

n Tips on wig selection and wig care.

n Dry skin and discolored nails.

n Scarves, turbans and hats.

n Style tips (a video).

Each woman will receive a free makeup kit to use during the workshop and to take home.

Trash & Treasure Sale set for May 17

The Alum Bank Fire Company Auxiliary will host a Community Trash & Treasure Sale, Used Book/Puzzle, & Bake Sale from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 17, at the Alum Bank Firehall, 6738 King St Clair Road, Alum Bank.

To reserve a table/space, call 814-839-2944 and leave your name and phone number. Cost is $20 per table, but following removal of your items from the premises at the conclusion of the sale, $10 will be refunded.

Donations of lightly used books or puzzles will be accepted. Call to make arrangements for drop-off or pick-up. The event benefits the Alum Bank Fire Company Auxiliary.

Ballroom dance lessons begin May 4

The Indiana Ballroom Dance Club and instructors from TDI Ballroom in Greensburg are offering a series of group ballroom dance lessons.

Lessons will be from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Sundays, May 4 and 18 and June 8 and 22, in St Bernard Church social hall, Indiana.

Cost will be dependent on the number of dancers, but should be approx $40/person that will cover all four lessons. RSVP and prepayment are due by April 25.

Pancake, sausage breakfast set April 6

The Men’s Club of St. Mary and St. Michael churches in Hollidaysburg will hold an all-you-can-eat pancake and sausage breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon Sunday, April 6, at St. Michael’s Church hall, 301 Spruce St. The breakfast includes drinks and a pancake topping bar.

A donation of $6 for adults and $3 for children 12 and younger. Proceeds will benefit upcoming service projects.

ArtsAltoona to host Cash Bash

ArtsAltoona will hold its inaugural Cash Bash fundraiser from 5 to 10 p.m. Saturday, March 29, at the Bavarian Hall in Altoona.

Tickets are $100, and each ticket donation provides entry for two people and two dinners, plus free beer, wine, soda and water all night. Your ticket is also your chance to win prizes up to $2,000.

Take part in basket raffles, pull tabs, and 50/50 drawings through the night, along with music from DJ Chaos.

Proceeds will go directly toward upgrades to ArtsAltoona’s nearly 100-year-old Performance Center and repairs to the Education Building. The funds raised will also help offset the costs of providing free arts education and creative programs to our community.
