Yesteryear-Roaring Spring High School

The photo at left is of the Roaring Spring School Board after the groundbreaking for the new Roaring Spring High School April 4, 1936. Pictured are (from left): Dr. Wilbert L. Grounds, Clarence B. Saylor, Ruth Replogle, Dr. Earl M. Hite, Ivan E. Garver and Levi B. Stoudnour. Mrs. Replogle had just recently left the board and was instrumental in the effort to build the new school. The school had a construction cost of $150,000 with the Borough providing the materials and a federal WPA project providing the labor. The contractor was Joseph Drass of Hollidaysburg. Above is from the groundbreaking at which more than 1,500 people attended. Bottom left is the completed school in 1937. The photos were submitted by Victor L.
