Fire reported at JLG Industries in Bedford
Bedford and surrounding fire companies were called out about 11 a.m. Friday to the JLG Industries Inc. facility along Weber Lane, Bedford, for a reported fire with visible flames. The facility was evacuated while firefighters put out hot spots in the paint tower section of the building. According to Stephen Simon, assistant fire chief 31-3 of the Bedford Fire Department, a JLG supervisor on scene used a fire extinguisher on a few visible flames. When firefighters arrived, no flames were visible. Firefighters used thermal imaging and a JLG lift to find and extinguish hot spots. The fire was believed to be accidental in nature, although the final determination will be made by a state fire marshal, Simon said. No injuries were reported. Firefighters cleared the scene about 12:30 p.m. Mirror photo by Holly Claycomb
