Gojmerac seeks commissioner seat

A Roaring Spring man will be a Republican candidate for Blair County commissioner in the May 21 primary.
Charles “Chuck” Gojmerac, 47, executive director of Morrisons Cove Memorial Park, is making his first run for a county commissioner’s seat. Two years ago, he won a seat on the Spring Cove School Board, which he continues to hold.
In seeking a county commissioner post, Gojmerac offers his work at the park as an example of what he can do.
“I was hired in January of 2016 and asked to help turn around the transformation of our park,” Gojmerac said in a statement about his candidacy. “The park had over $80,000 in debt and just enough money to make the next payroll.
“In just over 21 months, by instituting a sound business plan with cash controls and increased program activity, I was able to entirely pay off the park’s debt without raising any general admission prices,” he said. “Since that time, we have completed a $65,000 renovation of the bowling alley, installed energy efficient LED lights throughout the building and grounds and have fully rented out all of the classroom and business space in our building.”
Gojmerac said the success realized at the park can be replicated on the county level.
Before working for the park, Gojmerac worked nine years as Spring Cove School District’s athletic director.
He also worked for 13 years in investments and financial planning with L.R. Webber Associates Inc. of Duncansville.
Community activities include his role as president-elect of the Morrisons Cove Rotary, board member of the Garver Memorial YMCA, secretary/treasurer of the Mountain League Keystone Chapter of Volleyball officials, secretary of the District VI Athletic Directors Association and treasurer of Cub Scouts Pack 358.
Gojmerac is married to the former Christine Imes of Roaring Spring. They have two sons, Jordan and Colby, who are enrolled in the Spring Cove School District.
