Bellwood-Antis’ Emma Taneyhill wins Roddick Invite discus
SHIPPENSBURG — Bellwood-Antis’ Emma Taneyhill won first place in the discus at the 99th annual Jack Roddick Invitational at Shippensburg University with a throw of 132 feet, 7 inches to help the Lady Blue Devils claim the 2A team championship.
Though the team championships were split among classifications, the individual events were contested and awarded with both 2A and 3A athletes.
Ella Cherry finished third in the triple jump (38-4), fourth in the long jump (17-3.75) and fifth in the 100-meter dash (12.36) for B-A.
Cherry broke the 46-year old school record in the 100 and broke her own school record in the triple jump. The 400 relay team (Chloe Stoltzfus, Cherry, Addison Pluebell, Avey Powers) broke the school record from last year.
On the boys side for the Blue Devils, Jayce Quick finished eighth in the discus with a throw of 148 feet, 7 inches.
The Altoona girls also had a successful meet with several placewinners.
Annalyse Yost was second in the javelin with a throw of 130 feet, 5 inches. Teammate Megan Kelly was sixth with an effort of 111 feet, 4 inches.
Kihlee Noel was third in the shot put with a throw of 39-8 and seventh in the discus with a throw of 118-1.
Hannah Owulade was fifth in both the long jump (17-2.25) and triple jump (37-8.75) while teammate Jill Long was fourth in the triple jump at 37-9.
Ashlyn Noce was sixth in the 3200 run at 10:52.11 and seventh in the 1600 at 5:10.41, and Taylor Lear placed fifth in the high jump at 4-11. The Altoona 1600 relay team was fourth in 4:02.48.
On the boys side for Altoona, Collin Lutz was third in the pole vault, clearing 14 feet, and the Mountain Lion boys were fourth in the 1600 relay in 3:27.98.
Braelyn Ross led the Hollidaysburg boys effort with a third-place finish in the 300 hurdles in 39.83.
Devin Walters was fifth in the long jump with a distance of 22 feet, 5.25 inches, and Cole DeLattre was sixth in the triple jump at 44-11.5. The Golden Tigers placed seventh in the 400 relay in 42.76.
On the girls side, Jaclyn Sahlaney was sixth in the 200 with a time of 25.38, and she was seventh in the long jump at 16-11. Helaina Williams was fifth in the high jump, clearing 4-11.
