Tyrone baseball knocks off Forest Hills

TYRONE — Tyrone held off a final-inning rally by Forest Hills to come away with a 6-3 win Saturday afternoon in high school baseball at the Harry K. Sickler Sports Complex.

Winning pitcher Jon Stroup threw five innings and allowed just one run and struck out seven.

Brandon McClure had two hits and scored twice for the Golden Eagles, who improved to 8-6.

Red Devils beat NC

EBENSBURG — Central Cambria handed Northern Cambria its first loss in 12 games this season in a 7-1 triumph on Saturday.

Ben Howard had two hits, including a double, and drove in three runs for the Red Devils.

Jack Dawson and Alex Wingard combined to throw seven innings and allowed just one run on five hits.

Reese Wagner had a hit and drove in the Colts’ lone run.

Altoona downed

DuBOIS — Trey Wingard went 4-for-4 with two home runs and seven RBIs to lead unbeaten DuBois to a 16-0 four-inning win over visiting Altoona on Saturday.

Wingard’s fourth-inning grand slam ended the game. Madix Clark added a three-run home run, and Noah Farrell allowed only an infield single to Alex Glasgow in the second inning while throwing four shutout innings.
