Hollidaysburg girls golf winds up 2nd

MEADVILLE — Hollidaysburg finished second in the PIAA Class 3A girls golf team regional tournament at The Country Club of Meadville on Tuesday. Hollidaysburg, the District 6 champion, finished with a team score of 276, which was better than Bradford’s 347, but District 10 champ McDowell shot a 270 and advanced to the PIAA championships. Crosby Denis shot a low round of 80 for the Lady Tigers. McDOWELL (270): Kang 89, Bickel 90, Deaton 91. HOLLIDAYSBURG (276): Denis 80, Malausky 95, Panaro 101. Noce, Altoona cross country have solid weekend

GROVE CITY — Ashlyn Noce finished second overall and helped Altoona to a second-place finish as a team at the John Sample Invitational in high school cross country on Saturday at Memorial Park. Noce ran the race in 19:40, and the Lady Lions finished behind only champion Hampton among 14 total teams.
