Bellwood-Antis hires new wrestling coach

Kyle Fink, a 2012 Bellwood-Antis graduate who coached in the junior high program last year, was hired as coach for the 2021-22 school year at a stipend of $4,953.13. “He is bringing a younger movement to our wrestling program along with his staff,” said Athletic Director Charlie Burch. Bob Bubb and Pete Dutrow served as Tyrone Area High School’s head wrestling coaches during separate tenures from 1959 through 1979, and both men believed that it was important for the wrestlers, coaches, cheerleaders, managers, fans and their associated family members and friends from that era to periodically renew their acquaintances with one another as time has passed. Tim Andrekovich had been a long-time assistant coach within the Bellwood-Antis wrestling program before being named Ron Wilson’s successor four years ago at the high school level. Wrestlers and coaches in the Altoona Mirror coverage area were certainly presented with challenges during a delayed 2020-2021 regular season and an extended postseason. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, they were told to wrestle with masks and maintain social distancing off the mat.
