BELLWOOD -- Bellwood-Antis School Board members named a new varsity wrestling coach Tuesday night and created a new position to oversee the wrestling program.
Kyle Fink, a 2012 Bellwood-Antis graduate who coached in the junior high program last year, was hired as coach for the 2021-22 school year at a stipend of $4,953.13.
"He is bringing a younger movement to our wrestling program along with his staff," said Athletic Director Charlie Burch.
Fink will replace Tim Andrekovich, who retired as coach in April after four years of heading the program.
"I'm very excited and honored to be taking over as head coach for Bellwood. This program means a lot to me so I'm grateful for a chance to help develop and grow it," said Fink.
Board members created the position of director of wrestling operations and named Andrekovich to that position at a stipend of $2,500.
"The director of wrestling operations will act like a mentor for the new head wrestling coach. There are significant administrative functions that need to be completed on time and accurately. The director will assist the head coach in those endeavors," said Superintendent Thomas McInroy.
Fink is an IUP graduate and has been in the National Guard for nine years. He will be assisted by Bellwood-Antis graduate Trentin Whaley.
Volunteer coaches will be Jeremy Wilson, Nick Torsell and Andrekovich.
