Panthers prevail in Portage tournament

PORTAGE — Penn Cambria topped Portage, 7-1, in the championship game of the Portage Spring Classic high school baseball tournament, which had been postponed one week before it was completed on Saturday. Alex Cherico, who went 2-for-4 in the championship game and helped the Panthers top Juniata Valley, 10-9, in the first round, was named the tournament’s MVP. BELLWOOD — The Bellwood-Antis baseball team evened its record at 5-5 Friday with an 8-3 win over Central Cambria in high school play. The Red Devils came into the game at 6-3.
