PORTAGE -- Penn Cambria topped Portage, 7-1, in the championship game of the Portage Spring Classic high school baseball tournament, which had been postponed one week before it was completed on Saturday.
Alex Cherico, who went 2-for-4 in the championship game and helped the Panthers top Juniata Valley, 10-9, in the first round, was named the tournament's MVP.
Easton Semelsberger went 3-for-3 with four RBIs for the Panthers in their win over the Green Hornets.
McKeesport's Brady Boyle won a home run derby with seven home runs, and he also homered in a 10-5 loss to Portage in the first round. Portage's Brady Cochran, who drove in the Mustangs' only run in the championship, won a 60-yard dash, and the Green Hornets' Levi Thompson won best throw from the outfield. Thompson also went 4-for-4 and scored two runs against Penn Cambria.
Easton Slanoc went 6-for-7 in Portage's two games and scored three runs and had two doubles against McKeesport.
Juniata Valley topped McKeesport in the consolation game, 10-6, and Mason Buckley had three hits, including two doubles, and drove in three runs for the Hornets.
