Hornets baseball goes to extra innings to earn victory

Juniata Valley tied its game against Williamsburg in the top of the seventh inning on a two-run single by Elijah Johns, and the Green Hornets won it, 4-3, in the top of the eighth inning on an error in the first round of the Curve Invitational at Peoples Natural Gas Field on Thursday morning.
Blake Harbst threw three scoreless innings in relief of Kyler Spurlin, who had two hits, to earn the win for Juniata Valley.
Ethan Reffner and Konner Harker each had two hits and an RBI for the Blue Pirates.
In another first round game, Northern Bedford topped Curwensville, 13-3, in five innings.
Nevin Lloyd, Jordan Free and Zach Bowers each drove in two runs for the Black Panthers.
Northern Bedford and Juniata Valley will meet in the semifinals today.
