Hollidaysburg baseball gets four on East first team
The Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference announced its spring all-stars recently, and several local athletes from the Mirror’s core coverage area were recognized.
LHAC East baseball champion Hollidaysburg had four players make the East first team — Vince Boland, Cole Hartman, Mason Mierley and Josh Banks.
Bellwood-Antis, which made it to the District 6 Class 2A championship game, had two players make the East first team — Chase Plummer and Cam Swogger.
Penn Cambria’s Caden Gibbons landed on the first team in the West, which was won by Somerset.
Tyrone’s Wyatt Kustenbauder and Brandon McClure made the East second team along with Central’s Coltin Harbaugh and Troy McNichol. B-A’s Caleb Plummer also was selected to the second team in the East.
Penn Cambria’s Jace Davison and Central Cambria’s Ben Howard made the West’s second team.
Softball
Bellwood-Antis, which won the District 6 Class 2A softball title, had two players selected to the LHAC East first team.
Lainey Stinson made it as a pitcher and Parker Martin made it as an infielder.
Tyrone’s Amariah Sprankle and Hollidaysburg’s Maggie Hicks also made the first team in the East. Penn Cambria’s Marley Shaffer made the first team in the West.
Kaitlyn Rockwell (Tyrone) and Mikaylah Vincent (Hollidaysburg) made the second team in the East. Central Cambria’s Rowyn Ruddek made the West’s second team as both a pitcher and utility player, and teammate Camryn Matlin made it as an outfielder.
Track and field
First teamers from the Mirror’s core coverage area on the LHAC boys track included — Central Cambria’s Joshua Bearer, Reed Takacs, Miles Doyle and Ethan Haycisak (3200 relay), Haycisak (1600 run), Hollidaysburg’s Cole DeLattre, Devin Walters, Carter Muth and Braelyn Ross (400 relay), Central’s Jacob Heuston (800 run), Hollidaysburg’s Walters (200 dash), Hollidaysburg’s Reuben Manfred (3200 run), Hollidaysburg’s Andrew Chestney, Sam Chestney, Walters and Ross (1600 relay), Penn Cambria’s Blake Lilly (javelin), Tyrone’s Mason Emigh (triple jump).
On the girls side, first teamers from the Mirror’s core coverage area included — Hollidaysburg’s Brooklyn Boggetta (100 hurdles), Penn Cambria’s Kate Eckenrode (100 dash), Tyrone’s Clair Lehman, Nicole Ramsey, Raylee Woodring, Sarah Chichester (400 relay), Lehman (300 hurdles), Hollidaysburg’s Jaclyn Sahlaney (200 dash), Central’s Lanee Berkhimer (3200 run), Bellwood-Antis junior Emma Taneyhill (discus), B-A’s Ella Cherry (triple jump) and Tyrone’s Lola Woomer (high jump).
Hollidaysburg won the boys team title, and Bellwood-Antis won the girls team title.
