Tigers hockey team shuts down State

Hollidaysburg got a two-goal performance from Kaden Kirkham — and a shutout in goal by Tyler Duey — in a 4-0 win over State College at Galactic Ice in high school play Thursday night. With the win, the Golden Tigers, who led 1-0 going into the final period, improved their perfect record to 14-0. Altoona swimmers split in tri-meet

The Altoona Area High School boys and girls swim teams each went 1-1 in a tri-meet at the AAHS Fieldhouse pool on Wednesday. The Altoona boys topped Penns Valley, 82-44, but was edged by Marion Center, 78-76. The Altoona girls beat Penns Valley, 67-47, but lost to Marion Center, 120-43. Trevor Wilson won the 200-yard individual medley and 100 breaststroke for the Altoona boys. Panick helps Lions to victory

The Altoona ice hockey team improved to 8-7 Tuesday night, thanks to a 6-3 win over Richland in high school play at Galactic Ice. The Mountain Lions jumped on the Rams for four goals in the second period to break a 1-1 tie after one period. Carter Panick led the Mountain Lions with two goals and an assist in a game that also featured goals from teammates Noah Staines, Hayden Hosgood, Chris Kozminski and Dominic Della.
