Penn State, Pitt pick up international players for men’s basketball

The Penn State men’s basketball program made it official on Friday with the signing of Tibor Mirtic out of Slovenia.
The 6-foot-9 forward played last season with Krka Novo Mesto, a team that plays in both Slovenia’s top professional league, Liga OTP banka, and the ABA League.
Mirtic averaged 7.8 points-per game and 4.7 rebounds-per game in 26 contests in the Liga OTOP banka. He hit on 53 percent from the field and 42 percent from the three-point line.
He had eight double-digit scoring nights and two double-doubles nights for Novo Mesto.
In the ABA League, he averaged 11.5 ppg and 4.1 rpg. He shot 66 percent from the field and 44 percent from the 3-point line.
Siulepa on board
PITTSBURGH — The 2025-26 Pitt roster continues to take shape with the official signing of Roman Siulepa, a top prospect out of Australia.
Siulepa is coming off an impressive showing at the 2025 FIBA U19 World Cup earning Second-Team All-Tournament accolades.
Siulepa, at 6-foot-7, led his home country to a sixth-place finish averaging 18.9 points and 8.1 rebounds per game to earn all-second team accolades at the 2025 FIBA U19 World Cup. He posted a pair of double-doubles, including 19 points and 12 rebounds against a United States team.
The 6-7, 220-pound forward continued to excel in 2024 earning MVP accolades at the Australian U20 National Championships after averaging 24 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game. He also claimed all-tournament honors after leading Australia to a gold medal in the 2024 Albert Schweitzer Tournament.
