Penn State’s Paxton Kling named to first-team All-Big Ten baseball team

UNIVERSITY PARK — Three members of the Penn State baseball team earned All-Big Ten honors on Tuesday, including junior outfielder Paxton Kling who was named both All-Big Ten first team and Big Ten All-Defensive Team.

Kling, a graduate of Central High School, is Penn State’s first All-Big Ten first team selection since catcher Matt Wood in 2022. Kling is the program’s 17th All-Big Ten first team honoree.

Kling, a transfer from LSU, led Penn State in batting average (.340), hits (69),runs (60), slugging percentage (.616) and OPS (1.065). He tied for the team high in home runs (13) while adding 53 RBIs. He had a .353 batting average in Big Ten play. His 60 runs ranks fourth all-time in a season for Penn State, and his 13 home runs is tied for seventh all-time.

During the season, he was the Big Ten Player of the Week once and the Perfect Game National Player of the Week once. According to the 2025 MLB Draft by MLB Pipeline, he is the 143-ranked prospect and the 79th-ranked Division I baseball prospect.

Also receiving recognition was redshirt sophomore designated hitter Jack Porter was tabbed second-team All-Big Ten. Graduate student Cole Wagner earned the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award.

The Nittany Lions (31-22, Big Ten 15-15) ) entered Big Ten Tournament play today where they will take on Washington in the first round at 3 p.m. The Huskies are the No. 5 seed. Penn State will play USC, the No.4 seed, on Thursday at 3 p.m. If the Nittany Lions advance to the semifinals, that game would be played Saturday at 3 p.m. with the titl game set for Sunday at 3 p.m.

The Huskies are 29-26 overall and 17-13 in the Big Ten. The Trojans are 34-20 overall and 18-12 in the Big Ten.
