Altoona grad Brooke Long gets top three finish for Saint Francis University track and field
LORETTO — The Saint Francis track and field team recently competed at the Northeast Conference Championships at Stonehill College in Massachusetts where several local athletes wound up turning in top six performances.
Altoona grad Brooke Long competed in the triple jump (11.93) where she took third with a personal-best mark. She also finished fifth in the long jump (5.50). Long also ran a leg in the 400 meter relay (48.13) which placed fifth.
On the men’s side, Bellwood-Antis’ Dylan Andrews placed fourth in the pole vault (4.35), and Ethan Stroup, of Altoona, took fourth in the javelin (53.10). Hollidaysburg grad Vincent Franco was sixth in the hammer throw (49.75).
Foursome triumph
TYRONE — The team of Scott Meredith, Doug Moore and Rob Lafferty shot a 135 to win the Seniors Tournament at the Sinking Valley Country Club.
Placing second at 139 was the team of Anthony Evangelisto, Tim Loxley and Greg Hoover. Taking third with a 141 was the team of Randy Burkett, Jess Davis and Tony DeLecce.
Mount hires coach
CRESSON — The Mount Aloysius College Athletic Department announced the hiring of Tyler Sisler as the new head coach for the Mountie women’s soccer program this week.
Sisler comes from Potomac State College in West Virginia, where he served as the head women’s soccer coach beginning in 2023. In addition to his coaching duties, Sisler would also hold a role as the Assistant Athletic Director for External Relations and Sports Information.
Prior to Potomac State, Sisler spent time as an assistant coach for the Pitt-Johnstown men’s soccer program. Sisler also coached club soccer, working with the Allegheny Soccer Alliance and its U-16 and U-18 programs.
