Notable: The teams met on Jan. 3, and Bishop Guilfoyle Academy won, 50-27. Ruggery had 15 points to lead BG, and Delauter had a team-high nine points for Carroll. … Carroll coach John Strittmatter has led his team to four previous District 6 championships during his previous tenure as head coach. … Bishop Guilfoyle has won 27 District 6 championships including three at Class 3A (1985, 1986, 1990), 12 at 2A (1979, 1980, 1981, 1983, 1984, 1987, 1989, 1991, 1995, 1996, 2005, 2020) and 12 at 1A (1999, 2001, 2021, 2024 and eight straight from 2007-2014). … Bishop Carroll has won 13 District 6 championships, all at Class 1A. The Lady Huskies won four straight from 2002-2005, the first 1A girls title in 1978 and championships in 1981, 1983, 1987, 1998, 2016, 2017, 2019 and 2020. … Since 2020, Bishop Guilfoyle is 8-2 against Bishop Carroll, has won four straight and hasn’t lost to the Lady Huskies since 2022.
