Snyder Township, Tyrone delays expected
Minor delays will continue on Route 453 in Tyrone Borough and Snyder Township between Monday, May 11, through Friday, May 22, for the ongoing pavement resurfacing and stabilization project.
Drivers can expect short delays under daylight flagging operations on Route 453 for ADA curb/ramp upgrades, inlet and slope work, PennDOT said.
New Enterprise Stone & Lime, New Enterprise, is the lead contractor for the $8.4 million project, which includes resurfacing on Route 453 (East 11th Street/Pennsylvania Avenue/East 14th Street/Lincoln Avenue/West 15th Street) from I-99 to Beastons Road and on Pennsylvania Avenue from Route 453 to Old U.S. 220 (Pennsylvania Avenue/South Eagle Valley Road) in Tyrone Borough and Snyder Township.
Slope and pavement stabilization work will be performed on Route 453 north of Beastons Road. In addition to milling and overlay of pavement and slope stabilization, the project will include guide rail upgrades, ADA curb ramp upgrades, curb and sidewalk replacement, drainage upgrades and new traffic signals and signs.
The project includes a 23.5-mile detour through late August, using Route 453, I-99, Route 865 (Bellwood Interchange) and Route 253 (Skyline Drive/Executive Drive/Cambria Street). The section of Route 453 scheduled for slope and pavement stabilization, approximately one mile north of Beaston Road, will be closed and impassable during the work.
