Hollidaysburg teams eliminated
ATHENS, Pa. — Hollidaysburg went 1-2 in the Little League Baseball 9-11 Pa. State Tournament.
Hollidaysburg fell to East Side, 10-0, and Middletown, 11-2, on Monday after opening up play with a 9-4 win over Latrobe on Saturday.
In the win over Latrobe, Hollidaysburg had 14 hits and scored in every inning except for the sixth inning.
Hollidaysburg’s Heston Murphy was the winning pitcher, going 2 2/3 innings, allowing no runs on one hit, striking out four and walking one. Pitching in relief were Cullen Jones and James Seymour, while Ethan Murphy picked up the save.
Hollidaysburg’s top hitters were Heston Murphy (double, two singles, an RBI), Jones (double, single, two RBIs), Gage Boland (double, single, two RBIs), Nic Taddei (double, single, an RBI) and Killian Hendricks (two singles).
Hollidaysburg falls
BANGOR, Maine — Hollidaysburg, representing Pennsylvania, lost a heartbreaker in the Little League Baseball Senior 16U Eastern Regional on Saturday.
Hollidaysburg, which won its first two games, fell to eventual champion East Vineland of New Jersey, 4-3, in nine innings.
Carson Kratzer pitched 6 1/3 innings, allowing three runs. Hollidaysburg was up 3-1 heading into the top of the seventh when New Jersey was able to tie the game.
Isaac Miller and Ethan Karageanes had multiple hits for Hollidaysburg, which moved on and lost to Maryland, 13-0, Sunday.
Hollidaysburg finished third out of eight teams.
