Central duo in second

ANDERSON, S.C. — Following the first two days of fishing, Central’s Hunter Klotz and Gerald Brumbaugh are in second place out of 387 teams at the 2021 High School National Championship of fishing.

Klotz and Brumbaugh’s team caught the maximum-allowed three fish Thursday with a weight of 10 pounds, 2 ounces. Combined with their three-fish total from Wednesday of 9 pounds, 2 ounces, the two local fishermen stand in second place and trail Jacob Rogers and William Ayscue of South Forsyth High School in Georgia by just 2 ounces for the overall lead, 19 pounds, 6 ounces to 19 pounds, 4 ounces.

Klotz and Brumbaugh are nearly a pound clear of third-place Will Hart and Logan Fisher, another high school team from Georgia.

The three-day tournament will conclude today.
