Ex-PSU star may be Tyrone’s next coach

From Mirror reports

TYRONE — The Tyrone Area School Board will vote Tuesday on hiring a new head varsity wrestling coach, and if the recommended hire is approved, the program will be getting a man well-known in area wrestling.

Quentin Wright, the former Penn State two-time national champion, would be the new head coach, according to the Tyrone School Board agenda for Tuesday’s meeting.

The Eagles have an opening after Terry Tate recently stepped down after five seasons as head coach.

Wright starred at Bald Eagle Area High School and won state championships in 2007 and 2008 after finishing runner-up as a sophomore in 2006.

He then went to Penn State and was a major factor in helping coach Cael Sanderson win his first three of eight national team titles from 2011-13.

Wright finished sixth nationally as a freshman in 2009, and after redshirting in 2010, won his first national title in 2011. He then finished runner-up in 2012 before completing his career as a four-time all-American by claiming his second national title in 2013.
