BOWIE, Md. — The Curve needed a big week here. Instead, they wound up with a big disappointment. First-place Bowie pounded Altoona, 14-6, Sunday afternoon at Prince Georges Stadium and went 5-1 in the series to drop the Curve 4 ¢ games back in the Southwest Division. BOWIE, Md. — The Curve got beat up in the first three games of this week’s series against Bowie, then they punched back in the first inning Friday night. Altoona erupted for five runs in the first and held on for a 6-4 victory over the Baysox at Prince Georges Stadium. It’s still early in the second half, but after losing the first three games by a combined score of 36-12, the Curve needed to show they could at least compete with the Baysox. BOWIE, Md. — This has been a rough week so far for the Curve, whose big opportunity has looked like a big mismatch. Bowie blew out Altoona for the third straight game Thursday afternoon, rolling to a 13-4 victory at Prince Georges Stadium. HARRISBURG — The Curve got some excellent pitching over the weekend, and the offense did just enough in one of the two games to at least slip out of town here with one victory. Harrisburg beat Altoona on Saturday night, 2-1, then the Curve salvaged the final game of the series with a 3-2 victory in 10 innings Sunday afternoon at FNB Field. Blake Sabol homered in the eighth inning Sunday for a 2-1 lead, but Harrisburg pulled even in its half of the frame.
