Bucs add 17 to spring roster

From Mirror reports PITTSBURGH —The Pittsburgh Pirates on Thursday announced an additional 17 players will attend big league camp as non-roster invitees. Four of the organization’s top five, and nine of the team’s top 30 ranked prospects according to MLB Pipeline, will attend big league camp as non-roster invitees in Bradenton, Florida. CurveFest slated for Feb. 25

The Altoona Curve announced the return of CurveFest on Monday, and it’s scheduled for Saturday Feb. 25 from 10 a.m.—1 p.m. at Peoples Natural Gas Field. A spring celebration of the 25th season of Curve baseball will give fans their first opportunity to purchase single-game tickets and the first 200 fans who purchase in-person at PNG Field will receive an exclusive long sleeve Curve 25th season shirt. National Anthem auditions scheduled for Curve games

The Altoona Curve will host auditions for the National Anthem and God Bless America performers on Saturday, Feb. 11, at the Logan Valley Mall in Altoona. Vocalists, musicians and groups of all ages are invited to audition for the upcoming baseball season. Registration opens at 9 a.m. with auditions beginning at 9:30 a.m. Registration will close at 10:30 a.m. Lyrics can be provided upon request. The Pittsburgh Pirates and Altoona Curve announced the 2023 coaching staff for the 25th season, and Callix Crabbe was named the manager. “I am excited to meet the new members of our coaching staff and reunite with the returning members in Altoona this spring,” Curve GM Nate Bowen said. “I’m excited to work with this group and see them on the field in 106 days on our Opening Day on Thursday, April 6.” Crabbe was named the 14th manager in Altoona’s franchise history following one season as the leader of High-A Greensboro. Right-hander Luis Ortiz earned the organization’s Manny Sanguillen Teammates-of-the-Year Award, sharing the honor with infielder Luis Gonzalez.
