PITTSBURGH --The Pittsburgh Pirates on Thursday announced an additional 17 players will attend big league camp as non-roster invitees.
Four of the organization's top five, and nine of the team's top 30 ranked prospects according to MLB Pipeline, will attend big league camp as non-roster invitees in Bradenton, Florida.
The first workout for pitchers and catchers will take place on Feb. 15. The first full squad workout will take place on Feb. 20. A total of 65 players will now be in big league camp. Some of the noteworthy names include:
n Catcher Henry Davis, the Pirates' No. 1 draft pick from 2021, infielder Nick Gonzalez, the No. 8 prospect in Minor League Baseball, Termarr Johnson, last year's No. 1 draft pick who is rated as the No. 1 prospect in the minors, pitcher Quinn Priester, who was named the Pirates' Minor League Pitcher of the Year in 2022, along with outfielder Lolo Sanchez, whom Baseball America ranked as one of the most disciplined hitters in the Minors last season.
Others include Andres Alvarez (infielder), Carter Bins (catcher), Cody Bolton (pitcher), Matt Gorski (infielder-outfielder), Wei-Chieh Huang (pitcher), Jared Jones (pitcher), Drew Maggi (infielder), Carmen Mlodzinski (pitcher), Kyle Nicolas (pitcher), Malcom Nunez (infielder) and Chris Owings (infielder).
Curve charitable
Altoona Curve Charities, a 501c3 organization dedicated to supporting local youth programs and organizations that promote exercise, health, activity and education for the betterment of youth and community, announced recipients on of grant money and in-kind services for the 2022 grant cycle on Thursday.
Altoona Curve Charities raises money throughout the year through the purchase of 50/50 tickets at every home game and fundraisers like the Inaugural Curve Charities Gala on Saturday, February 4 at the Jaffa Shrine. Donations are also accepted directly here.
The first ever grant cycle for Curve charities touched 30 organizations including:

Clifford's night
UNIVERSITY PARK -- The State College Spikes are giving a fitting farewell to a quarterback who's been around the block and back in Happy Valley with the Sean Clifford Retirement Party, in partnership with Limitless NIL, set for Saturday, July 15 at Medlar Field.
The night will feature a Clifford bobblehead giveaway for the first 1,000 fans, plus an array of retirement gifts and activities for both Clifford and fans to share in during the game.
The bobblehead giveaway will depict Clifford coming up like a rose after winning MVP honors in Pasadena with 279 yards and two touchdown passes in his final collegiate game.
The full bobblehead artwork will be released at a later date.
