RICHMOND, Va. — Noe Toribio worked around the game-tying run at third base in the bottom of the 10th inning with three-straight strikeouts as Altoona picked up a series-evening win in Richmond, 5-4, on Wednesday night. Toribio entered in the ninth inning for Altoona with the Curve holding a one-run lead. From Mirror reports RICHMOND, Va. — Kyle Nicolas struck out 10 batters for the first time as a Pirates minor leaguer on Tuesday night in Richmond, but a Riley Mahan three-run home run pushed the Flying Squirrels passed the Curve, 6-2, in the opening game of the six-game series at the Diamond. READING — Altoona and Reading will play a doubleheader Saturday at First Energy Stadium Friday’s game between Reading and Altoona was postponed due to inclement weather. The twinbill will start at 5 p.m. with a pair of seven-inning games. Righty Aaron Shortridge will start game one for the Curve with fellow righty Matt Eckelman slated for game two.
