Gillin leads Bishop Carroll to victory over Ferndale
EBENSBURG — Preston Gillin had two doubles and drove in a run to help Bishop Carroll Catholic top Ferndale, 8-5, in a high school baseball game on Saturday.
Jack Tremel also had two hits, including a triple, and Zach Shedlock had two singles for the Huskies.

B-A gets forfeit win
Bellwood-Antis received a forfeit win from Penns Valley in softball after the Lady Rams were unable to field enough players on Saturday in high school softball.
The win improved the Lady Blue Devils’ mark to 16-4.

Lions fall in playoff
SHALER — The Altoona boys volleyball team fell in the playoffs of the Shaler Invitational, 25-18, to Seneca Valley.
The Mountain Lions had gone 0-3 in pool play with losses to North Allegheny (25-19, 26-16), Saegertown (25-23, 25-15) and Meadville (25-15, 25-23).
Caleb Terz had 11 kills, eight digs, six assists, two blocks and an ace.
Max Coon had nine service points, 28 assists, four kills, eight digs and two aces, and Julian Trimmer finished with 16 digs, two kills and two blocks.
The Altoona junior varsity team competed in the Montour JV Tournament and went 2-1 in pool play with wins over Mount Lebanon (25-12, 25-23), Latrobe (25-19, 25-22) and a loss to North Allegheny (25-13, 25-12).
In the play-in round, Altoona topped Moon, 30-28, before losing to Norwin, 25-21, in the quarterfinals.
