WINDBER — Kendall Bednarski won the long jump in 16 feet, 1.5 inches and triple jump in 33 feet, 3.75 inches and was second in the 200 dash in 27.08 seconds for Portage at the 77th annual West Central Coaches Meet on Friday night.

Bednarski’s performance helped Portage tie Richland for third in the team race, won by Bedford.

Portage’s Josh Papcun won the 400 dash in 50.92 seconds on the boys side, where Portage finished 12th and Richland won the team title. The Bellwood-Antis boys were fifth.

Lady Blue Devils junior Ava Worthing won the javelin with a throw of 112 feet, 3 inches, and her teammate Sophia Pullara finished second in the high jump, clearing 5 feet, 2 inches. The B-A girls placed ninth.

Tyrone girls fourth

LOCK HAVEN — The Tyrone girls, behind a first-place finish from its 3200 relay team, took fourth place out of 21 teams at the Lock Haven Invitational held at Lock Haven University.

The Lady Eagles garnered 69 points, while overall winner, Lewisburg, ended with 112.5 points.

The Tyrone boys ended up tied for 10th place with Central Mountain as both had 24 points, while Williamsport claimed the crown with 171 points.

The 3200 team, which consisted of Sarah Chichester, Braeleigh Flick, Raylee Woodring and Claire Lehman, won with a time of 4:06.41.

Three Tyrone athletes earned second-place finishes as Chichester was in the 200 dash with a time of 26.17; Lehman was second in the 300 hurdles with a time of 47.10; and Lola Woomer was in the high jump with a mark of five feet.

Nicole Ramsey took third in the long jump with a mark of 15-10.25, while Genna Naylor also was in the third spot in the javelin with a throw of 110-06.

On the Golden Eagles side, Brenson Davis ran the 3200 run in 10:24.48 to finish in third place.
